EyeTV and YLE subtitles

One problem I encountered during my brief test was that EyeTV was not able to show subtitles in the YLE programmes. I know that Finnish National Broadcasting Company YLE uses a different, more advanced system of sending the subtitles than other European TV companies. Where others (Finnish MTV3 and Nelonen included) 'burn' the subtitles into the main programme, YLE sends the subtitles separately. Unfortunately many of the digiboxes don't support this feature, and since YLE is the only company using this feature, the manufacturers are not in a hurry to add support for it. EyeTV seems to be belonging into this group.

When I mentioned this to a representative of a retailler of this product, he said that updated version of the software should provide the support. Unfortunately I was not able to corroborate this even though I updated the software from version 1.8.3 on the CD to the newest one from the EyeTV website; i.e. version 1.8.4.
